Jon Hamm did his schooling in Ladue, Missouri from the John Burroughs School and later went to the University of Missouri on scholarship to study acting. He also worked along as a day care teacher at John Burroughs before moving to Hollywood.
In 2000, Hamm made his acting debut on The Hughleys. He also appeared on movies and series Space Cowboys, Kissing Jessica Stein and The Unit etc. before entering Mad Men. In Mad Men, Jon plays the role of Don Draper, a high level executive working in an advertising firm on the Madison Avenue, in the 1960’s. Don is a very sharp and brilliant man, a womanizer to the core and is at a position, envied by many.

Hamm has also worked in films like The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008), The Ten (2007), The Boy in the Box [2008] and Heart which is currently in production.
Having won the Golden Globe award 2008 for the best actor in a drama series [For Mad Men], and being nominated for the same category in the subsequent year, Hamm has also once been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama series [For Mad Men] in July, 2008.
Jon also has been a host at Saturday Night Live episode of 25th October, 2008 where he enacted his character of Mad Men, Don Draper and also aped John F. Kennedy and James Mason.
Hamm would soon be entering the show 30 Rock some time in 2009 for approximate four episodes.
In Los Angeles, Hamm lives with Jennifer Westfeldt, his partner for many years, who is also a writer and actress.
